In Colombia festival days are defined by the Law December 51 22 of 1983 called "Law Emilianni" in attention to the Senator that proposed it.




There are the two pertinent articles:

"Article 1º All workers, public and private, are entitled to the listed holidays, civilian or religious: january first, january 6th, march 19th, may first, june 29th, july 20th, august 7th, august 15th, october 12th, november first, november 11th, december 8th and december 25th; along with Thursday and Friday (Easter), Ascension of Corpus Cristi and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Article 2º If some of these days don’t fall on Monday then they will move to the following Monday.

When the mentioned festivities fall on a Sunday, it will also be move to next Monday."

The Ascension of Corpus Cristi and Sacred Hearth of Jesus vary year to year.

The dates depend this way on Sunday of resurrection Easter:

Thursday saint: It is on Thursday previous to Sunday of Easter

Friday saint: It is on Friday previous to Sunday of Easter.

Ascension of Christ: 40 days after Sunday of Easter.

Corpus Cristi: 3 weeks after the Ascension. (61 days after Sunday of Easter)

Sacred Heart: One week after Corpus. (68 days after Sunday of Easter.
